Intern - Bridge Inspection
SuYash Consulting, LLC is seeking a Bridge Inspector Intern to support bridge inspection, structural assessment, field data collection, documentation, and transportation infrastructure projects.
This is a highly field-oriented internship for students interested in bridges, structural engineering, transportation infrastructure, and asset management.
The intern will work alongside experienced bridge inspection professionals and gain first-hand exposure to the inspection of real transportation structures.
Responsibilities:

Assist bridge inspection teams with field inspections.
-
Participate in inspection of bridges and transportation structures.
-
Document structural conditions using photographs, measurements, sketches, and field notes.
-
Assist with identification and documentation of deterioration, defects, and deficiencies.
-
Assist with inspection reports and condition documentation.
-
Support bridge inspection data collection and organization.
-
Assist with CADD drawings, sketches, and inspection exhibits.
-
Review bridge plans and previous inspection reports.
-
Assist with structural calculations and engineering evaluations as directed.
-
Participate in field investigations and site visits.
-
Assist with traffic-control setup and field safety procedures.
-
Follow all company, client, OSHA, and project-specific safety requirements.

Work in a variety of field conditions, including elevated structures and areas adjacent to active traffic.

Assist senior inspectors and engineers with other bridge-related assignments.
Requirements:
-
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

Interest in bridge engineering and transportation infrastructure.

Ability to work outdoors and participate in field assignments.
-
Strong attention to detail.
-
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Ability to travel locally to project sites.
-
Valid driver's license.
Preferred:
-
Structural engineering coursework.
-
Previous construction or field experience.
-
Experience with MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar CADD software.

Familiarity with bridge components and structural systems.
-
Interest in pursuing bridge inspection as a career.
-
OSHA safety training.
-
Previous exposure to FHWA/NHI bridge inspection training is a plus.
Position Type:
Full Time/Part Time
Salary Range:
$20 - $24/hour (depending on academic level, experience, field skills, and relevant certifications/training).

Working Conditions for All Positions:
Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sitting in nature but may require occasional standing, and walking. Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
