Intern - Water Resources

SuYash Consulting, LLC is seeking a Water Resources Intern to support stormwater, drainage, water resources, environmental, and transportation infrastructure projects.

This position provides an opportunity to work on projects involving stormwater management, drainage design, hydraulic/hydrologic analysis, NPDES compliance, water quality, permitting, and resilient infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist engineers with hydrologic and hydraulic analyses.

  • Support stormwater management and drainage design.

  • Assist with watershed and drainage-area delineations.

  • Perform engineering calculations under supervision.

  • Assist with preparation of drainage reports and technical memoranda.

  • Support stormwater management facility design and evaluation.

  • Assist with water-quality and TMDL-related analyses.

  • Collect, organize, and analyze field and GIS data.

  • Participate in field investigations and site assessments.

  • Assist with preparation of exhibits, maps, figures, and engineering plans.

  • Support environmental and stormwater permitting activities.

  • Assist with NPDES/MS4 compliance-related assignments.

  • Research MDE, MDOT SHA, MDTA, and applicable federal requirements.

  • Assist with technical documentation and project deliverables.

  • Support senior engineers with project coordination and reporting.

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related field.

  • Coursework in hydraulics, hydrology, fluid mechanics, environmental engineering, or water resources.

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Preferred:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related field.

  • Coursework in hydraulics, hydrology, fluid mechanics, environmental engineering, or water resources.

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Position Type: 

Full Time/Part Time

Salary Range: 

$20 - $23/hour (based on academic level, relevant coursework, software skills, and prior experience).

Working Conditions for All Positions:

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sitting in nature but may require occasional standing, and walking. Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
